Covered in Peace on the Covered Front Porch
Outdoor living spaces are so important in a tiny or little home. We have three separate spaces on Our Little House and the Belle Writers Studio, where there is a covered front porch. We also have a large party deck on the house and this covered front porch.
Until last month, however, we only had patio-type table and chairs. Certainly nothing to make you want to settle in with a good book on a nice day. The chairs are so uncomfortable, I could barely stand sitting out there for the time it took to read a magazine!
We were at Lowe’s after Labor Day, on the day they were marking their summer stuff down at fire sale prices so they could make room for their fall and holiday décor.
I had long wanted a nice outdoor sofa for the covered front porch on Our Little House, so I could sit out there and enjoy coffee in the mornings, escape with a good book on a Sunday afternoon or, like I did last Sunday, go outside and talk with my mom’s elderly cousin on the phone while Dale continued to enjoy whatever he was watching on television.
I saw this set and fell in love. Lowe’s also made us a deal we couldn’t refuse.
A friend of mine just re-did her kitchen color scheme in aqua and though I didn’t have a choice due to this being an end of the season sale, I love it!
The result is a nice, cozy and inviting space I where I can escape. I do have my Belle Writers Studio in the winter, but prefer being outside, so this is perfect for not-so-cold or not-so-hot mornings and days.
The first night we had it set up, we sat out there for quite awhile, enjoying drinks and the quiet of the night woods. One benefit I didn’t realize was that by placing it at the end of the porch, we can also star gaze beyond the roof at night. One of my favorite country pass times.
Do you have a nice outdoor space where you escape?
