A Place of My Own
It’s fall. Time for apple and pumpkin spiced everything, the beauty of the leaves changing colors, warm days and cool nights, Halloween (at least here in America) and changing the clocks back.
It’s also time for me to take comfort in my writer’s studio on Sunday mornings.
I love my husband, but I’m not a morning person, at least in the sense that I don’t like a lot of noise around me or people yacking while I’m trying to enjoy my first coffee.
If we aren’t fishing (and since our boat is still broke, well…), my idea of a perfect Sunday morning is enjoying the quiet, reading my newspapers (a real paper and my online ones) and giving my brain time to wake up without the hectic pace of weekday mornings that include turning on the morning news to get weather reports and getting Dale out the door for work.
Dale’s idea of a nice Sunday morning is watching whatever he wants on television.
In the summer, I can head out to either the covered front porch or the Party Deck to escape the noise, but in the fall and winter, I head over to The Belle Writer’s Studio.
During the week, it is a place for me to work. On the weekends, particularly on Sunday mornings, it is a place for me to relax and enjoy the quiet of the woods.
Building it was the best part of our plan here at Campbell Town.
Do you have a place you like to escape for peace and quiet?
I can’t jump right into the action. I like to sit quietly with my coffee and the paper when I first wake up. You are lucky to have such a pretty and cozy place to call your own! I’ll bet it’s very comforting.
I like having a few minutes to wake up in the morning too. I usually turn on the morning shows on the TV in our bedroom and cuddle my dogs. It gives me time to slowly wake up until I am ready to face the day. I have a couple of spots in the house that are my retreats. Normally, I try to stay out of my office though because then I end up working.
LOL. I know, Brette. My office is pretty big though, with my futon way on the other side of the room. 🙂
