Party in the Bedroom

My cookie sheet cabinet is once again in organized order

Theresa: I’m still waiting for you to email me your snail mail address for the book you won last week. Please do it by Friday, or I will have to choose another winner! fivecoat@ozarkmountains.com

Ok, it is organization party time once again!

How did everyone do on their kitchens?

I didn’t get as far as I would have liked last weekend. It was a bigger job than anticipated, but I expect to finish up this weekend.

I did get my cookie sheet cabinet organized again and the cabinet above it. That cabinet was stuffed with old dog medicines and expired canned jellies.

Thanks to the organization, I now have room to store my baking ingredients, coffee cups so they are not in danger of falling out in the other cabinet and the dog medicines are all neatly organized and up to date.

Once I get into the medicine cabinet again, I will probably make a shelf for the dog medicines, freeing up even more space in the kitchen.

Still to do this weekend is arranging the drawers, pots and pans and going through the food pantry and using up anything not already expired.

By Sunday, I plan to move to the bedroom. This is one we’ve been needing to tackle for a while.

I’ll make a confession for Dale. He is a clothes hoarder. He will not allow me to throw anything away or give it to charity, even if he cannot wear it.

I’m pretty sure he still has bell bottom jeans from 1979 in a bag up in the storage building.

Don’t ask me, I have no idea why.

At any rate, he understands (at least I think I’ve gotten through to him) that we do not have room for clothes he will not or cannot wear.

On Sunday, I plan on sitting him down with the dresser drawers and going through the closets. This is a good time of year to do it as I will be rotating summer to winter clothes soon and I already know what I haven’t worn this summer will be going in the donation bag.

As well, we have extra towels, blankets, quilts, pillows and other just plain junk on shelves that need a more permanent storage home. They will be packed away in the plastic storage bins we bought on sale several weeks ago and stored in the basement at the studio.

Ok, we’re doin’ it in the bedroom(s), what’s your plan there and how did you do in the kitchen? Did you find any long lost tools or 20 year old spices?

Oh, my goodness! I missed the announcement, I think. As for organizing, I am behind there, too. I didn’t get as much done as I wanted. I have to get a paperwork project done, but hope to get to that kitchen and possibly my closet.

    Thank you again!

Ha! now that you mention it, we have seen some 20 year old spices in the closet. You can always spot them with the stickered price tag on the top.
I did get the pots and pans cabinet reorganized. i donated the pans that weren’t being used, and bought some plastic coated wire stacking shelves – the pans can now be stacked vertically on a flat surface.

I’m done organizing, since our house is on the market. I do know this: it is an exhausting (but gratifying) job!
