Living Large Links

Each Friday, I will post on Living Large links to other blog posts and stories on living small, sustainability, living more simply, homesteading, wildlife, pets and maybe even books – all things our Living Large community seems to be interested in:

Here’s an interesting story out of China about a small house builder who can’t even give away his tiny apartment creations.

This writer asks if there is a happy medium between living “like a peasant” and living in a McMansion and driving a Hummer.

Does buying organic really shrink our carbon footprint?

Since I’ve written about cougars on Living Large, I thought this an interesting story. It’s not interesting that it was killed, but where this cougar was shot is an area just north of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

I’m sure many of you have read about the yet unexplained deaths of thousands of birds that fell from the sky in Arkansas on New Year’s Eve, as well as a massive Drum fish kill in the Arkansas River 100 miles away. Many conspiracies abound (A friend of mine called me insisting it is chemical weapons testing). Theories on the birds, which show signs of blunt trauma range from a lightening strike to New Year’s Eve fireworks. On the fish, biologists think it might be disease as it only affected on species of fish. Here’s another story asking of American wildlife is cursed and reporting on another massive fish kill in the Chesapeake Bay and another story of dead birds in Kentucky.

Really? It’s legal in Colorado to shoot a sleeping bear in its’ den?

Let me know if you enjoyed these stories and this new addition on Living Large.

Kerri, thank you also for the links. I have theories on the birds and fish, but it is political and mega national corporation related and I do not talk about politics much as I trust neither.
    Have a great week.

  2. Kerri, you placed a lot of interesting links. Thank you, for providing a broader picture of what is happening.
