Down for the Count

Alas, the bug got me. I was up all night between Tuesday and Wednesday with a sore throat.  I lost my voice on Wednesday.

It’s very frustrating for me to be ill. I feel it a waste of precious time. I did what had to be done on Wednesday, but didn’t fight it if I needed a break.

Of course, I don’t know if the germs were airborne or if disinfecting with vinegar just didn’t work.

Dale should be on the mend soon. He came home Wednesday night from the doctor’s office with three prescriptions. He waited so long to see the doctor, the infection from his chest had even moved into his eye.

We’re quite the pair. He can’t see out of one eye and neither one of us can talk.

Thanks for stopping in. I will be back as soon as I find that darned voice…what could have happened to it!?

  1. So sorry to hear this, and sharing your pain; just back from the doctor with my daughter, who had what sounds like a similar bug which has turned into pneumonia! Don’t push yourself; rest and heal. It can all wait!

Thank you, Melanie. We’re on the mend now. So sorry for your daughter. I will keep positive, healing energy thoughts coming her way!

Sorry to hear this! We’ve been hit with a bug this fall as well. Not fun. I hope you are able to rest and feel well soon!

Thank you. Dale finished his antibiotics this weekend (love those new 5 day packs, which keep working after you finish) and I will finish mine tomorrow. We’re feeling much, much better.

I hope you both feel better soon. I don’t like to take any medicines either but in your case with an infection I would take them too. A couple of years ago I put off going to the doctor thinking it was just a cold until I was having chest pain and was having a hard time breathing, well it turned into pneumonia, lesson learned. I agreed with the chicken soup as a medicine too, always helps me….LOL

Thanks, Mary. I had to settle for Campbell’s soup. I didn’t have the ingredients, nor did I feel like fixing any from scratch. 🙂 Glad you got through that pneumonia! I’m glad it didn’t go any farther with Dale.

Lemon juice + honey + hot water = my favorite drink when I’m under the weather. Take care.

I’m so sorry to hear you both are sick. If I was close I would make you a big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. Well take care of yourselves and don’t wait to long to go to the dr if you start to get worse. Get well soon so we can continue to enjoy your posts.

That’s two offers of chicken noodle soup I wish I could take! 🙂 Feel much better today. But I am still going to the doctor tomorrow for antibiotics. The doctor says this is an upper respiratory infection going around, not just a cold or the flu, so I don’t want it ending up in bronchitis as it has with Dale. I’ll be back on Tuesday.

      • Susan says:

Glad you are going to the docs. I suffer with chronic bronchitis and it is not fun when you get sick with it.

Thanks, Susan. I’m not a big fan of using antibiotics as I think they’re over-prescribed. But we don’t take them often at all and since this is a confirmed infection, I think it’s warranted. You’re right, it is not fun. It doesn’t seem to have the hold on me it has with Dale. I’ve never seen him so sick.

I am so sorry that Dale is really suffering with this infection…I pray he and you both get well soon.
On a good note, I got my first magazine today from Mothers Earth News…thanks again.
