Oh, I bet your mom's crockpot would go with my mom's orange blender from the 70's that I still have! My husband always has to make a comment about it when he sees it, but I'm with you, it still works, so why get rid of it?
When we got married we got 3 crock pots. I have this new white one in The Little House, along with one that has a clampable lid so I can take it to parties and bookclub.
I like your analogy that it's almost like having a wife of your own. It was very nice going home last night after a long day of writing to a nice, hot meal!

I have my mom's old 1970s crockpot (orange with a ring of stylized yellow & green flowers). It's the more vertical format than the ones you can get today. I'm forever tempted to get a new one, but the darn thing still works fine.

Since we've had snow for the last 3 days, I guess it *is* time to break out the old beast for some hearty suppers.

I love how smart I feel for planning ahead so that there is a warm, homemade dinner at the end of a busy day.

I have several dishes that have meaning to me in the same way this one does to you. It's amazing all the messages and memories that are tied up in food.
